The Instructional Designer provides instructional and program design expertise for the development and support of online courses and specialized educational programs that maximize learning, use effective and efficient delivery systems, and are aligned with organizational objectives and strategic goals.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for managing instructional development process, setting standards for assisting content experts in the design of curriculum and instruction, development of learning resources, and redesigning of courses to electronic delivery methods.

  • Work in collaboration with internal content experts to develop online educational programs using Captivate and other e-learning authoring software.

  • Utilize multimedia design software to develop instructor resources (e.g lesson plans, visual aids), guides, videos and animations to support curriculum offerings.

  • Develop and maintain an online training catalog within learning management system (LMS), support LMS audits, and load content to the LMS.

  • As technology and software development products advance, explore and make recommendations for for the purchase and adoption of multimedia software.

  • Communicate frequently and effectively with various project collaborators to ensure that goals and objectives are being fulfilled.

  • Support the alignment of education to the Network's strategic goals by collecting information and data to help determine the return on investment of educational programs.

PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:

Requires sitting for up to 8 hours per day, 2 hours at a time. Standing for up to 4 hours per day, 3 hours at a time. Requires occasional fingering, handling, and twisting and turning while entering data into the computer. Occasionally requires lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Occasionally requires reaching above shoulder level. Must have the ability to hear as it relates to normal conversation, seeing as it relates to general, peripheral and near vision, visual monotony.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s Degree required in instructional design, graphics design, or education. Master’s Degree preferred in instructional technology or curriculum design or related field.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

Two to five years experience in course design, curriculum design, or e-learning content development. Experience with graphic design (e.g. Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and multimedia or e-learning authoring software (e.g. Audacity, Premiere, Captivate) and Web site design software and mastery knowledge and skill in MS Office 2010.
